Matt 28:18-20

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
NIV

John 20:10-16

10 Then the disciples went back to their homes, 11 but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

13 They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?"

"They have taken my Lord away," she said, "and I don't know where they have put him." 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

15 "Woman," he said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"

Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."

16 Jesus said to her, "Mary."

She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher).

WHAT IS NationsUniversity?

NationsUniversity is "a school without walls" that provides high-quality Christian education for people in every nation at little or no cost to students who can’t afford to pay.

NationsUniversity is designed to train church leaders in their own country rather than bringing them to the United States and running the risk of losing them to the cause of Christ in their homeland.

NationsUniversity is led by volunteers and supported by gifts from people who share a vision of using Nations University to build up God’s kingdom throughout the world. A staff of 200 highly-trained teachers, mostly Bible professors in our Christian colleges and universities, volunteer their services, raise their own travel funds, and teach their courses free of charge in countries where they are needed.

NationsUniversity has been incorporated in the state of Louisiana as a degree-granting educational institution and is offering two degrees: (1) the Bachelor of Religious Studies (BRS), and the Master of Religious Studies (MRS). As of January 1, 1998, there were 331 students in 29 countries.

Our goal is to have 1,000 students by the end of 1998 and to have 3,000 students in 192 countries by the year 2000.

BASIC NEEDS

Thus far, NationsUniversity has functioned on a "shoe-string." Approximately $14,000 was expended in 1997, just over $1,000 a month. Much of this was donated by the Administrative Cabinet. The university’s outlay for teaching 310 students was roughly equivalent to the cost of educating a single student in a traditional context, that is, in a Christian college or university in the United States.

Thousands of dollars will also be needed for secretarial help, purchasing and mailing textbooks, and for setting up computer stations in 25 key cities so that students in those cities can study on the internet. Even with these textbook and computer-center expenses, the estimated cost of providing a quality Christian education through NationsUniversity will total $2,500 per student, about 5% of the cost of bringing a student to America and sending him through a Christian college or university.

BENEFITS OF NationsUniversity

NationsUniversity helps train leaders of indigenous, self-supporting churches who will spread the Word in their homelands without cost to churches in America. These church leaders will be equipped to evangelize their own nation without being dependent upon Americans who have limited knowledge of the language, culture, or needs of the people.

NationsUniversity provides a quality Christian education for only $2,500 per student, a 95% savings to the church. In other words, every $100 invested in NationsUniversity will save the church $1,900.

In the past, WEI and WBS teachers haven’t had much to offer their best students who wanted to continue studying the Bible on an advanced level. Now, they can enroll them in NationsUniversity.
