Matt 28:18-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to
me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
NIV
John 20:10-16
10 Then the disciples went back to their homes, 11 but Mary stood outside
the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and
saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the
head and the other at the foot.
13 They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?"
"They have taken my Lord away," she said, "and I don't know where they
have put him." 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there,
but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
15 "Woman," he said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him
away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."
16 Jesus said to her, "Mary."
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means
Teacher).

| WELCOME!
The Metro congregation in Gresham, will be
sponsoring WEI missionary campaigns again next summer in several cities in
Albania. Students will be abundant!
These summer campaigns when complete will need follow-up teachers in all
areas.
If you can go 3 weeks or longer at any time, just go!
Cost, travel, inoculations, materials to carry with you, etc. are described
in the section below for most of the campaigns in Albania.
Letter from Bill Morgan
We continue to be thankful to God for the progress of the church in Elbasan
and other cities in Albania. While the work has been slow in developing I
personally believe that it is a blessing and that the chances are greater
that those who are harvested for the Lord are more apt to stay with the
work, and understand the commitment that they made.
Each year is like most other years in regard to summer efforts -- there is a
need and desire in the Albanian churches to have teachers come over and work
with them. We are thankful for all those who have been able to do this
through the years.
This year is showing itself to be unlike any that we have had previously, at
least the fourteen years that I have been involved. Our economic downturn
has severely impacted many (I should probably use the word most or all)
peoples finances. According to my records it has not hit the bottom yet. I
only say these things to preface my remarks that of all the people I have
talked with since last September most of them have indicated that they will
not be able to make a trip this summer. Hopefully that will change some, but
until we receive their application form for teaching, we cannot count on
them to teach.
I just received Kevin's report this morning, and they are wanting some
teachers for Korca again this year. Teachers are desired in
Tirana. For
these two cities I do have information to give prospective teachers --
information as to what they can expect in terms of costs.
Hopefully this will help everyone understand the advance planning that will
need to be done. Even if all the coordination is done by Elbasan, the
information contained in these attachments will be needed to give proper
direction for the teachers. I am copying Artan Xhaferi on this since he is
near Elbasan, and has worked with us through many summer sessions. He may be
able to answer questions and offer counsel that will assist in this planning
for Elbasan. We will hope and pray that there are some numbers of teachers who can go
over this year to teach.

SHORT-TERM MISSION TEACHING IN
TIRANA, ALBANIA
SUMMER 2009
One of the most spiritually thrilling and rewarding experiences is to teach
Jesus Christ, one-on-one, to a hungry and thirsting soul. Time and again the
W.E.I. material is proving itself to be an effective evangelistic tool that
opens the door to such an experience.
Since 1992 we have been conducting short-term summer teaching trips to
Albania. There are always more students than we are able to accommodate.
This means that teachers do not have to seek out potential students, but can
spend all of their available time teaching students about God’s plan for
them.
Each student is scheduled for teaching one hour each day, Monday through
Friday, each week. Daily study time enables you to get to know the student
more quickly. On occasion there may be two students studying together. This
is only done at the request of the students and when they are working on the
same lessons. We encourage the teaching to be one-on-one.
The teaching day begins at 8:15 am with a Teacher’s Devotional. This
devotional period will last until about 8:45 am, permitting the teachers to
be at their teaching location for the first students at 9:00 am. The lunch
hour is from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm. In the past, teachers have found it
helpful to take a three hour break providing time for lunch and rest, and
then teach from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This schedule enables teachers to have
six hours of class time each day.
In 2009 the students will be offered study for six weeks – classes
beginning July 06 and running through August 14. This is offering each
student 30 daily lessons. This will enable a student to complete the
twenty-one lessons of the three Basic books and begin the Advanced books.
The ideal situation would be to find teachers who could teach for all six
weeks. Knowing that this is not always possible we will work at coordinating
schedules so that the student can get the six weeks of study, but will have
studied with more than one teacher in the process.
IF YOU CAN GO FOR TWO OR MORE WEEKS, WE NEED YOU!!
For 2009, in Tirana, we will plan to use SEVEN TEACHERS at a time. Some
teachers schedules will only permit them to teach during the early weeks,
some only the latter weeks. Others can be flexible in their scheduling. It
is this combination that makes this type of planning and teaching possible.
The minimum time for teaching is two weeks. Three or four weeks is better as
it permits you longer to develop a relationship with your students.
THINGS TO CONSIDER in planning for short term teaching include the
following:
1) An early decision is very helpful. The cost of the airline
ticket and easier airline routing can be optimized with an early decision.
It is most desirable if a decision can be reached by mid-January
2) What length of time can you stay? You must have a minimum of
two weeks to justify (physically and emotionally) your making the trip.
Three or four weeks is much better for you and the student if you can
arrange the time. The ideal time period is six weeks, this will enable you
to take the students completely through the basic studies and probably
complete the first advanced Bible book.
3) Can you be flexible in the calendar weeks that you go? If
you can be flexible, it will make it easier to schedule you in front of or
behind a teacher who cannot be flexible.
4) What is the approximate cost of the trip? Bear in mind that
advance planning and early commitment can make a difference in airline cost.
Estimated cost for 2009
A. AIRLINE - $1,500.
B. TEACHING MATERIALS and BIBLES are $50.
C. MISC. TRAVEL items about $60 for the trip (e.g., airport entry fee is
$20, taxi from the airport is $20, and taxi to the airport is $20).
.
D. ROOM and MEALS – about $475 per week. (Hotel rooms (including breakfast)
will be about $50 per day. A large noon meal Monday through Friday is $50
per week. You will be responsible for any evening meal and the noon meal on
Saturday and Sunday. The cost of these meals will vary. You should allow
about $75 each week for additional meals during the week/weekend.)
Based on the above a six-week trip is approximately $4,460 (1,500 + 50 + 60
+ 6 weeks at 475 ea.).
A three-week trip is approximately $3,035 (1,500 +
50 + 60 + 3 wks at 475).

Please DO NOT MAKE ANY AIRLINE RESERVATIONS until you have been approved as
a teacher and you have suggested travel dates confirmed by our office. World
English Institute will coordinate travel dates to help ensure that you have
a room in which to sleep when you arrive in Albania.
WHY ARE SPECIFIC TRAVEL DAYS SO SIGNIFICANT?
Generally we rent apartments
or hotel rooms where the teachers can live. We do not want teachers to
arrive before the space is ready. We have to schedule the teachers
back-to-back. Most of the time a follow-up teacher will be needing the room
on the same day that the previous teacher is leaving. In our planning we
will have one teacher leaving the airport at the same time that their
replacement teacher is arriving at the airport.
If it is not possible to meet the desired dates we will have you slide a
day later rather than have you arrive a day earlier. We want to prevent
situations where one person’s lack of planning becomes a problem for several
other people. With your cooperation we will help make this a very spiritually rewarding
experience.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN GOING IN THE SUMMER
OR FALL OF 2009 PLEASE LET US KNOW AS
EARLY AS POSSIBLE.

Taiwan Campaign -- March through May
VERY IMPORTANT! We love the work in
Taiwan but realize that our physical bodies were not meant to be permanent.
Therefore, anyone who would like to serve on a full-time basis should let
their interests be made known. The role needed at this time is one of
support, encouragement, and service, not one of preaching for a local
congregation. A couple or family that loves to work with people, lead mostly
by the example of walking in the steps of Jesus, and speaking with the
attitude of love and care that Jesus had, will find this a true joy of
Christian service. One advantage is that you could go over, take part in the
program as a volunteer, and see for yourselves just how you might fit into
the program effectively before making a longer commitment.
Let me ask all of you to let many others know of this opportunity to go
to Taiwan or China, for that matter, and teach in English and see
results in a very short time. Ask your elders to let you put an announcement
on the bulletin boards or in your weekly bulletin and include how to contact
us, especially by email. If you need for us to email you a special
announcement for you to use, we can prepare it and get it to you quickly.
We know it is difficult to make plans to go to Taiwan on short notice, but
if any are considering going this Spring, please let us know as soon
as you can. We look forward to another time of precious fellowship in our
Lord's service.
May God bless and keep each one of you in His care,
Enoch and Jeannine |
