July 2003

(Fort Worth, TX)  Modern language Hungarian New Testament released in Budapest

After years of hard work and numerous challenges, the World Bible Translation Centerıs Hungarian New Testament made its June debut with a bang. Released in Budapest, Hungary, at a Missions Expo attended by some 20,000 people, the event was an adrenaline rush for the entire translation team.

Richard Loh, Director of Distribution for the Center, wrote from Budapest,  "It was exciting to see Hungarians swarm our booth to receive the new Hungarian New Testament. We were encouraged by the positive reception of the new text and by the expressions of thanks by many who received them." Organized by an alliance of churches in Hungary, the Missions Expo was open to the public and attended by Christians from several surrounding European countries. Local Churches of Christ were invited to the Missions Expo and given free copies of the New Testament.

Among those who made their way to WBTCıs booth to get a copy of the text were church leaders, ministry workers and church members from Hungary and Western and Eastern Europe. All of the Translation Centerıs European language translations were on display, but those who read and examined the Hungarian text at the Expo  "were pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to read and how much easier it is to understand than the older Hungarian translations now in use," observed Loh.

"Several readers actually returned to the WBTC booth the next day to thank us for the new translation," said Loh.

The most moving gesture of thanks came from a group of deaf Hungarians who were surprised by the readability of the text after only scanning a few paragraphs. "They lifted their hands over their heads and waved in a display of  Œdeaf applauseı" explained Loh.  "It was an emotional moment for me to see their expression of joy. That was the grand finale at the Mission Expo in Budapest," he concluded.

Ervin Bishop, Senior Translation Consultant for the Center, was warmed by the Deaf response. "The English Easy-to-Read version was originally developed with the Deaf in mind and Iım especially pleased to see that the Easy-to-Read Hungarian New Testament is reaching the Deaf in Hungary as well," he said.

The Hungarian New Testament is the 26th New Testament completed by the Translation Center since its beginning in 1973. Churches and various ministry partners will soon distribute the New Testamentıs first printing of 21,500 copies throughout Hungary. "Already, some are asking when they will be able to have the Old Testament," grinned Loh. "I like their sense of expectation."

World Bible Translation Center exists to provide accurate, easy-to-understand translations of Godıs Word in the worldıs major languages. The Translation Center has completed 26 New Testaments and 11 Bibles and is currently at work in 16 languages. Some six million of the Centerıs Bibles, New Testaments and Scripture portions were distributed during the year 2002.

The Centerıs first translation was the Easy-to-Read English Bible, which enjoys popularity worldwide as a ministry tool. The textıs easy-to-understand style is prized by church planters and cherished by seekers. It is equally valued by long-time students of the Word who find it consistently gives them fresh insights into divine truth. To visit the Translation Centerıs web site go to www.wbtc.com.

Russian
and Spanish

The WEI Easy-to-Read Bible Course has been translated into Russian and is available upon request at little or no cost.  This course is designed to lead others to Christ. Spanish is now available also.

The WEI Easy-to-Read Bible Course has been translated into Russian and is available upon request at little or no cost.  This course is designed to lead others to Christ. Spanish is now available also.

Here are the details:

1.  The Russian version of the Easy-to-Read Bible Course Book 1, "The Conflict of Good and Evil" has been translated and is published on the web. Click here to go there.

All three of the Basic Bible books are available in book form. To see the content pages of WEI's Books in English, click here.

The Russian translations may be ordered from Jim McPeak at the following address:

Orangevale Church of Christ
5915 Main Ave.
Orangevale, CA 95662-4946,
Tel. (916) 988-2011; Fax 916/988-6931.

The WEI English Course has not been translated into Russian.  Neither has the complete Advanced Bible Course.

[See Advanced Book "New Birth," Lesson 4 on the History of Sprinkling and Pouring.]

2.  The Beginner's English Course for Spanish-speaking students is a course in survival English with some Biblical content.  There is no separate Bible course that goes with it.  The purpose of the course is to equip students with enough English to take the ETR Bible Course and WEI English Course in English.  The student who finishes the beginner's course will have a vocabulary of 1,200 English words and will know a little about English grammar.

The Spanish series is designed for local congregations to reach the Spanish speaking people in their own community. Did you know that the California Spanish birth rate is now greater that all others? A large part of our population in America has Spanish-speaking people whose families now need spiritual guidance. This series will help you begin working with them in your own community.

This is an excellent way to bring the Spanish speaking people into your congregation where they can know the Lord and have a worshipping church for spiritual growth.

An assigned teacher should be able to speak some Spanish until the student is able to read at the 4th grade level in English. Then, they can proceed with WEI English and Bible course. The grading keys are in English to aid the teacher.

All three Spanish books of the Beginner's English Course for Spanish-speaking students are being printed in Orangevale right now.

Cassette tapes, recorded in Spanish, are now ready for Books One, Two, and Three.   These recordings are of the entire book and not the vocabulary recording that is available in WEI's Basic English Course.

Since the introductory remarks, instructions, and questions in the beginner's course are all in Spanish, Dick is considering producing a teacher's book with introductory remarks, instructions, and questions in English.  Otherwise, it will be almost impossible for American teachers to teach the course by correspondence.

Watch this announcement for more information or write Dick Ady at  weiady@aol.com.

HOW TO READ OUR CHINESE WEBSITE
EVEN IF YOU CAN’T READ CHINESE
World Christian Broadcasting
October, 2006

World Christian Broadcasting has a Chinese website that can benefit many of your Chinese contacts. You too can navigate much of the site, even if you cannot read Chinese! Here’s how:

1- Go to www.smzg.org/

2- As you move your mouse across the screen, watch the grey bar above your taskbar at the bottom left hand of your screen and you will see the titles of pages and articles in English. Each time your mouse touches a different hyperlink, the file title will change. As the file titles are all in English, you can at least get some idea of the content of our website.

3- Look first at the “sidebar” down the left hand side of the homepage. The first blue hyperlink in the sidebar is the "sitemap" (wang zhan di tu in Chinese), so at the bottom of your screen you will see “http://www.smzg.org/sitemap.htm” displayed in small letters in English.

4- Click on that hyperlink and it will take you to the sitemap page. Scroll down the page and you will see articles by several and others. As you move your mouse across the various hyperlinks, the title of each article will be displayed in English in the filename at the bottom left of your screen. This way you can know something about the content of our Chinese website even if you cannot read all of the articles. I hope that your being able to navigate the site will encourage you to introduce our website to your Chinese friends and ask them to introduce it to their friends and family as well!

5- NOTE that some articles are or contain sound files that can be downloaded, especially a number of Dr. ________'s articles are available as sound files.

6- NOTE that some of the articles on www.smzg.org/  are bi-lingual, especially a number of my articles are in English as well as in Chinese.

I believe you will be surprised at the amount of information and Chinese Bible study material that is on our website. We try to add new material each month.

F We pray that www.smzg.org/ will be used by God as a tool for the spiritual benefit of many people and to glorify himself. Please help make this happen!!! Please use our website!!!

http://www.nscofc.net/roal_conf_2009/

Thank you, from the North Stafford congregation, for your participation and interest in this year's Romania-Albania Missions Conference. We think it went very well because of your excellent presentations, interesting table
presentations, and passion for missions in Romania and Albania.

Many of you, even now, are traveling. We wish safe travels and a hope that
your destination will be warm and comfortable.

If you are interested, all presentations and some photos from the 2009
conference are at:

http://www.nscofc.net/roal_conf_2009/

category "RO-AL Conf 2009".

We have somewhat turned the keys back over to Marty Knight at
www.romaniaalbaniaconference.com/.  He will be working, likely, with next
year's host at Prestoncrest to get the word out for the 2010 conference.

Again, thank you for your interest and participation this year.

God bless.

Fred

This next year's Romania-Albania Missions Conference 2009 comes with the
theme "The Grace That is Reaching More and More People". This theme comes
from II Corinthians 4:15. Each of you are part of God's effort to share Christ's grace with others.

All of you, and your guests and acquaintances, are invited to the annual Romania-Albania Missions Conference on Jan 9-12, 2009 in Stafford, Virginia. The 2009 conference will be hosted by the North Stafford Church of Christ (www.nscofc.net/). You are invited and encouraged to be with us.

We are still planning and coordinating but, by Jan 2009, all will be in place and ready to go. We know God will bless our time together. Come be with us.

For more information on our conference, locations, transportation and housing, local area, and to register yourself and guests, visit www.romaniaalbaniaconference2009.com

or send an email to romaniaalbania2009@nscofc.org.

We will be sending out regular updates via email with information about the upcoming conference as time goes on. Also, and again, regular updates will be posted at www.romaniaalbaniaconference2009.com.

This email is being sent to approximately sixty individuals who are either working as ambassadors of Christ in Romania and Albania or who have a love for missions in Romania and Albania. The list may need updating so if you are aware of some who have not received this email, please be in touch and we will update the list and send subsequent emails to the new email addresses.

Much more to follow. Be in prayer for the success of this conference and be in prayer that through our time together we may encourage and edify to greater works, with God's blessing.

Be in touch if questions or comments.
